Yeovil Youth Theatre (YYT) is an inclusive training and performance-based theatre group.
Established in 2005, YYT in its present format, has been providing young people aged 13 to 18 years with an interest in theatre, an opportunity to learn what it's like to be part of a company, whether working together to put on a full scale musical theatre or drama production or through acting, singing, dancing and 'triple threat' workshops.
YYT is run by a committee of volunteers who come from all walks of life but who are committed to seeing singing, dancing and acting opportunities being made available to young people at a minimal cost. We are a fully inclusive company, our only membership criterion is that you have a willingness to learn, participate, have fun and enjoy yourself.
We are also very fortunate to be able to draw on the knowledge and experience of former and current industry professionals who conduct specific workshops such as 'acting for camera' and stage full-scale musicals such as Cats, Billy Elliot, The Addams Family and Seussical.
YYT is a not-for-profit organisation; all proceeds from productions and workshops are channelled back into the learning opportunities for our young members. Our only sources of income are those which we generate ourselves; our membership, production fees, income come from any fundraising events and activities we organise with the membership and from outside supporters or sponsors, for example the annual YYT fundraising Golf Day, kindly hosted at Yeovil Golf Club.
